My Summer Collection Inspiration
The Walter Baker Summer Collection has dropped and it’s full of fun and feminine outfits perfect for these hot summer days. From flirty and fashionable silhouettes to exciting prints, my new collection is full of dresses you won't be able to get enough of. Here are some of the inspirations behind the summer line.
Summer is time to let your hair down and have as much fun as you possibly can. Nothing says “fun” like letting out your inner wild child—which is why there’s such a pointed focus on animal print. Our animal print styles reflect the wild and free spirit of endless summer nights. There is something particularly sexy about python print, so I decided to shine a spotlight on this print by incorporating it into many different pieces—a gorgeous feminine dress with a high slit, easy-to-wear joggers, and an asymmetric tank top (to name a few). I also wanted to breathe new life into zebra print, an often-overlooked print with tons of untapped potential. I added some extra “oomph!” to the zebra print Pereira Dress with a tiny keyhole cutout detail that is sure to bring zebra from a last-choice print to your new summer go-to.
The next summer trend I wanted to give my take on is the classic shirtdress. I wanted to offer our customers the perfect professional summer dress that is stylish and fun enough to be worn straight to dinner and drinks without having to run home and change. It’s the perfect combination: work friendly meets summer chic.
An overarching theme for summer 2019 is dusk till dawn statement pieces. Fashion should be fun and uncomplicated but it can be a headache to figure out what is appropriate to wear for different occasions. The new collection has pieces that you can wear all day—from brunch to a museum, then to dinner and a party.
When it’s hot, nothing beats loose, casual, breathable clothing... I want to personally ensure the collection conjures the magical scent of a summer breeze or evokes the feeling of the hot sun warming your skin. You can twirl, go for a skip, or lay comfortably in our flowy dresses. Looking good is important—but why stop there? When you wear Walter Baker, you will look—and feel—like a million bucks.
